Current Real Estate Stats

Huelo is the community adjacent to Haiku along the eastern coast. A quiet settlement of small family farms, it was the home of many Native Hawaiians, many of whom have moved away. Like Haiku, Huelo experiences the pressures of subdivision development in two-acre agricultural lots.

The Kaulana Pueo, meaning "Owl's Haven," Congregational Church, built at the site of a former hala grove, was built in 1853. The church is constructed of coral and stone and has been maintained in good condition by the community. Church services continue to be held there. At one time travel books noted that the view of the church offered a panoramic view of land and sea but the view has been blocked by a water tower that serves the homes that have been built between the church and the sea.
