Rusty Gage, RS-80417
Rusty Gage first landed on Maui as a vacationer in 1999, having absolutely no plans to make Maui his permanent home. Owner of an enviously successful gymnastics training center in Dallas, Texas, Rusty decided to sell the business, retiring at age 33.
He returned to school to refine his understanding of business principles, earning an MBA and graduating as a member of Sigma Iota Epsilon, the national MBA honor society. During his time at graduate school, Rusty was awarded the Dallas County Volunteer of the Year Award along with several commendations from the billion-dollar Dallas Independent School District for his work advocating for low-income students. Shortly after graduating, he became VP of a marketing firm in Dallas, yet quickly missed being around the hopefulness of young people. He learned that there was no fun-first gymnastics training center on Maui and, surprising even himself, opened such a center in 2004.
That center, Valley Isle Gymnastics, eventually was honored as Maui County Small Business of the Year. During his tenure as owner, he was also awarded the Better Business Bureau's Torch Award for Business Ethics. Maui Weekly Newspaper also recognized Rusty as one of six finalists for Maui Person of the Year. He and the Valley Isle Gymnastics staff were also recognized by Hawaii Business Magazine's Small Biz Success Awards and, multiple times, by Special Olympics Maui as Outstanding Partner. Under Rusty's leadership, Valley Isle Gymnastics consistently garnered positive media attention and an enthusiastic level of community support.
After a brief return to Dallas, Rusty's yearning to be back on Maui was stronger than he could resist. He returned to Maui, continuing his five-year stretch of managing the marketing efforts for one of Maui's most successful real estate agents who encouraged him to become more formally educated in real estate and to obtain his real estate license. Rusty did so, earning a near-perfect score on the prelicensing exam.
Rusty is pleased to announce a refreshing look at Maui Real Estate - one that recognizes that this land is truly rare and sacred, and that we are simply temporary stewards of it. Rusty's philosophy is that it is our duty to honor Maui's history, to protect it for future generations, and to treat it with the utmost reverence. Furthermore, "slick talk" is simply not a part of Rusty's makeup. In him, you'll find someone who values trust, honesty and integrity above all else. Yes, those are nice words on a computer screen, but more importantly, they're the core values that drive every decision Rusty makes.
