A Fire That Brought the Community Together

Posted by Maria N. Isotov on Wednesday, July 4th, 2018 at 6:00am.

On Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018 a fire began along the side of the Haleakala Highway on the island of Maui. The fire Consumed around 2,500 acres of old sugar cane fields. It grew so quickly because of the dried out vegetation and high trade winds. The fire was put out by the work of some very brave men and women at the fire department along with the community in the form of some companies such as the owners of the land Alexander & Baldwin, Goodfellow Bros., and West Maui Land Co., all helped fight the fire by using bulldozers and water tanks to create a fire break so that the inferno did not spread further across Maui's beautiful landscape.
