Homes for sale in Kula are not your run-of-the-mill properties. These are special, unique, quality crafted homes that highlight the surrounding beauty and breathtaking scenery that Maui is famous for.

Why Live in Kula?

Although many people think of the hot and temperate beaches when choosing a Maui home, chances are, you will probably get sick of the constant and unrelenting heat of the beach. The best compromise is to take advantage of the varied climate in Maui and choose an Upcountry area like Kula to settle down in.

Kula is an ideal spot for buyers who are looking for privacy, tranquility, and peace. The stunning views and captivating scenery are truly breathtaking and waking up every morning to the gorgeous ocean and mountain skyline is something that few homeowners get to experience. The area is also ideal for farming and gardening, and people here are known to grow everything from flourishing flower gardens to strawberry patches, and spectacular avocado groves – a definite draw for anyone who loves guacamole.

The Kula Community Association is an active organization that is in charge of local events as well as other administrative duties in the community. Although the community is mainly rural, there are several highly rated Upcountry schools available for children in the area including:

  • Kula Elementary School
  • Kalama Intermediate School
  • King Kekaulike High School

These schools have active PTA’s and encourage parent and community involvement.

Although the community is known more for its beautiful and tranquil setting, there is an active business district that provides everything homeowners need to thrive in Kula. The secluded, rural area promotes support of locally-owned and operated businesses. Some of the most popular shops, cafes, and restaurants in Kula include:

  • Maui’s Winery
  • Worcester Glassworks
  • Maui Mountain Homegrown Coffee
  • Surfing Goat Dairy
  • Café 808
  • Fong General Store

In addition to the great community of local artisans and business owners, there is also exciting recreational opportunities in Kula including hiking, swimming, visiting the Kula Botanical Garden, horseback riding, and more. However, don’t be fooled in thinking that Kula is all about relaxing and fun. It’s also home to some necessary essentials like an animal hospital, auto repair shop, clinic, hardware store, plumbers, and more. You won’t need to go far to find exactly what you’re looking for in Kula, because all your amenities are located nearby.
